About the Project
If you have friends from childhood who remain your close friends even today, that is indeed a treasure you possess. One of my clients wanted to celebrate such a friendship with some personalized gifts. My suggestion of designing a custom board game with personalized illustrations and quotes was accepted.

The Game
The game is a souvenir to mark the 40th birthday of five childhood friends celebrating 35 years of knowing each other. They all grew up together in the same neighborhood in India, and are now settled in California, USA.
The game is named Chaddi Buddy which means Childhood Friend in the Indian language. Though the game is inspired by the traditional Ludo and Sorry, the personalization makes it significantly different.
Content and Design
Color Palette
The logo of the game is designed in super hero theme to evoke memories of the books and TV shows they watched during their school days.
The two landmarks – the structure in Besant Nagar beach in Chennai and the Golden Gate Bridge in California represent the common places of significance in their lives. Illustrations instead of photographs add playfulness to the design.

Bright colors on the board not only differentiate the players, but also align with the superhero theme. The 8 pages rule book with instructions help the users to understand the rules of the game. The coin design with faces of the friends made personalization complete.
The nostalgic, yet funny quotations on the cards will take the friends back in time and will help them relive their good old days. The deck consists of 45 cards with unique quotes.
Packaging
To give any product a professional and finished look, packaging plays a huge role. Boxes were made for the board and the cards. For the same, dielines were created.
The game was printed and packaged from the leading print shops in the bay area, JP Graphics and Inprintz.

Playing board: 6 mil adhesive vinyl, mounted on 1/16 Sintra
Box for the board: 6 mil adhesive vinyl, mounted on 24 pt stock
Coins: 3/16 Sintra
Playing cards: 13 pt soft touch stock
Box for the cards: 13 pt stock
