Logo Creation for Storyteller
First Draft
Though the logo conveys what the company does to a great extent, it was not legible enough. Also, the logo was slightly long; if this was to be printed on business cards or on a merchandise like pen, it would be a challenge to place it within the limited space.
Final Solution
Typeface
Slabthing (for Story) - This serif font has definite edges that made it clear to read. The scribbling inside gave it a child-like feel and brought out playfulness. The typeface was a good choice for the logo as it conveyed that the brand is for children.
Sunflowers (for teller) - This school calligraphic font depicted who the company targeted (school students) and who could avail the service. Also, story writing is a creative process that could be associated with cursive writing. It also helped in denoting personal thoughts and highlighing the individuality of the writer.
Color Palette
One of the primary colors, blue was used for the logo. Blue speaks to a person’s intellect and conscience and it also represents creative thinking. As the company is all about nurturing creativity, blue was the right choice.
The other color used was white, which is a negative background color. The blue and white contrast in the logo made it legible, easy to read and understand.
Yellow was used as an accent color that stimulates the logical side of the brain and creates a sense of playfulness.
